UTC Workshops

Whether you are at the beginning of the transfer process or applying to the University for the next academic year, the OC University Transfer Center has workshops designed to assist you throughout your transfer path. To register for an in-person or zoom workshop:

All workshops required registration. For in-person workshops it will be done through a questionnaire and a reminder will be sent to your email on the day of the workshop with the location. For zoom workshops, you will follow the link to register to receive the meeting link and ID.

This one-hour workshop provides a clear and comprehensive overview of the transfer process. You’ll learn about the different university systems (CSU, UC, out-of-state, and private institutions), admission requirements, important deadlines, fee waivers, financial aid programs, and more.

By attending, you’ll take the first important step in your transfer journey and discover the many services and resources available to support you throughout the entire process. Completing this workshop also qualifies you for a one-on-one counseling appointment with one of our experienced transfer counselors.

Spring Semester Transfer 101 Workshops

New!!! Transfer 101 Online - access through your portal. A self-pace orientation with helpful information about transferring and timelines; different university systems in California public school system, private universities and out-of-state universities, etc.. By completing this orientation you will be clear for a 1-1 transferring appointment. Please let us know that you have completed the Transfer 101 Online and send us the certificate of completion by email to clear you for appointments.

Congratulations! you submitted your transfer application and are now waiting to hear back from the universities regarding acceptance.

Now what?

What should you be aware of as you wait to receive a response? Should you start creating your student portal for the university? Are there admission dates you need to be mindful of to avoid missing deadlines?

The "Next Steps" Workshop will outline the timeline from when you submit the transfer application to when you transfer to the school of your choice.

How to sign up for a workshop:

To register for a workshop, please select the day that works best for you and click on the date. Once you submit the registration questionnaire you will receive a confirmation to your email. For in-person workshops, a reminder with the workshop location will be sent the day of the workshops. For zoom workshops, you will receive the confirmation with the meeting id and or the link to join. These are the dates we have scheduled for this workshop:

The UC Transfer Admission Planner (UC TAP) is a free online tool designed to help prospective UC transfer students plan and track their coursework.

If you’re planning to transfer to a UC campus, creating your UC TAP account is the essential first step. The planner allows you to monitor your progress toward meeting UC’s minimum admission requirements and enables UC staff to send you important updates and information. Your TAP account also makes it easy to discuss your transcripts and coursework with university representatives and is required for students applying for a Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) at any of the six participating UC campuses.

This UC TAP Workshop will guide you step-by-step on how to enter your completed and planned coursework — whether you’re just beginning your college journey or are ready to transfer at any point.

For in-person workshops, you will receive a reminder with the exact location on the day of the event.
For Zoom workshops, your confirmation email will include the meeting ID and/or link to join.

UC TAG (Transfer Admission Guarantee)

Six University of California (UC) campuses offer the Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) to students from all California Community Colleges (CCC).

By participating in TAG, you can secure guaranteed admission to your chosen UC campus — provided you meet the campus-specific requirements. Students interested in the Pathways+ transfer option also use TAG to lock in their admission guarantee.

For in-person workshops, the email will include the location details.
For virtual (Zoom) workshops, the email will contain the meeting link.

CSU Transfer Planner

The CSU Transfer Planner is a free online tool designed to help California Community College (CCC) students explore and successfully transfer to any of the 23 California State University (CSU) campuses.

With the CSU Transfer Planner, you can:

Browse all 23 CSU campuses, their programs, and transfer admission requirements
Save your favorite degree programs in one convenient online account
Enter your community college coursework to track progress toward general education requirements and compare your GPA against each campus’s transfer standards
Receive practical tips and guidance to transfer as efficiently and successfully as possible

In this hands-on workshop, we will guide you step-by-step through creating your CSU Transfer Planner account and show you how to make the most of its features to launch your transfer journey.

Interested in Private or Out-of-State Universities? We are here to help. The UTC will be facilitating throughout the year the "How to Transfer to a Private University" & the "Common Application Workshops" to help student understand and navigate other options.

In-person workshops will be limited to 30 students, and registration is required.

The Personal Insight Questions (PIQs) are short essay prompts that are part of the University of California (UC) transfer application. They give students the opportunity to share their personal stories, academic preparation, and life experiences with UC admissions. PIQs help highlight qualities that go beyond grades, such as leadership, resilience, and commitment to your major.

Our PIQ Workshop is designed to help you understand the prompts, brainstorm strong responses, and express your unique voice clearly and effectively.

Steps to Take Before Attending a CSU Workshop

Once you have signed up for the workshop, please refer to the steps outlined below:

Welcome to the Transfer Center – Ready to Apply for Spring/Fall 2026 Admission!

This process may look different than last year, don’t worry we are here to help you! Below you will find the steps you need to follow in preparation to attending a virtual workshop.

If you show up 10 minutes late, you will be ask to sign up for the following workshop!

Prior to attending a workshop, the following is REQUIRED:

Meet with a counselor (review you are transfer ready)
Sign up for a workshop that best fits your schedule
Complete the Transfer Tracking Sheet

Review the following documents:

Cal State Apply Transfer Student Application Guide

Review the Cal State Apply Transfer Credit Summary
Have unofficial transcripts of all colleges attended ready
If you took AP exam and earn a score of 3, 4, or 5 you will need to have this information
Create your Cal State Apply account

Prior to leaving the workshop, please do the following:

Sign up for another if you feel needed
Complete Exit Survey allowing you to schedule a one-on-one appointment

The first part of the workshop is mandatory, as you will learn the overview of the application, and counselors will be available to assist with creating your account.
Workshops are designed for you to receive real time assistance with your application! Students can ask questions, ensure their application entries are correct, and meet the deadline on August 31st.
You can follow up with a 1-1 counseling appointment to have your application reviewed before submitting -- be sure your "Golden 4" are correct, you have all quadrants of the application complete, and benefit by having an expert review your application! Please complete the Transfer Tracking Sheet after submitting your application. We use the data on our tracking sheet to invite students to the Transfer Ceremony during spring.

Applications for Spring 2027 (not all campuses) start July 1st through July 31st.

Applications for Fall 2027 will open August 1st, and submission period starts October 1st through November 31st.

We will be providing Applications Workshops and the intensive 3-day boot camp. Details coming.

Some campuses extend their deadlines, but we encourage students to apply earlier. Take advantage of our workshops for assistance or stop by during our drop-in hours.

University Admission Application Workshops - UC

Please review the workshop schedule that work best for you and click on the date to register. Please note, attending the beginning of the workshop is required.

Please complete the Transfer Tracking Sheet after completing your application. We use this information to invite transfer students to our Transfer Recognition Ceremony during the spring.

Spring 2027 Applications starts July 1st through the 31st. Note than not all the universities offer spring semester.

Fall 2027 Applications opens August 1st. Submission period October 1st through the 30th.

UC TAG Applications start September 1st through the 30th.

We will be offering Application workshops and our 3-day application bootcamp. Dates are coming.

Some campuses may extend their deadlines, but we encourage students to submit their applications earlier.
