The American Library Association affirms that all libraries are forums for information and ideas, and that the following basic policies should guide their services.
I. Books and other library resources should be provided for the interest, information, and enlightenment of all people of the community the library serves. Materials should not be excluded because of the origin, background, or views of those contributing to their creation.
II. Libraries should provide materials and information presenting all points of view on current and historical issues. Materials should not be proscribed or removed because of partisan or doctrinal disapproval.
III. Libraries should challenge censorship in the fulfillment of their responsibility to provide information and enlightenment.
IV. Libraries should cooperate with all persons and groups concerned with resisting abridgment of free expression and free access to ideas.
V. A person’s right to use a library should not be denied or abridged because of origin, age, background, or views.
VI. Libraries which make exhibit spaces and meeting rooms available to the public they serve should make such facilities available on an equitable basis, regardless of the beliefs or affiliations of individuals or groups requesting their use.
VII. All people, regardless of origin, age, background, or views, possess a right to privacy and confidentiality in their library use. Libraries should advocate for, educate about, and protect people’s privacy, safeguarding all library use data, including personally identifiable information.

The purpose of the Library's collection is to provide access to materials that are relevant to the instructional and research programs of Oxnard College. Librarians work with faculty and classified professionals on purchase recommendations while observing current trends in higher education and specifically community colleges. Our highest priority is offering a balanced collection that is relevant to the instructional and learning needs of the college and our students.
Patrons with a complaint about an item in the collection should be referred to a librarian, who will ask them to submit their concerns in writing. A committee of two librarians and two discipline appropriate faculty members will review the complaint and the materials in question and make a recommendation to retain or withdraw the item. The complainant will be notified of the decision.
Computers are available on a first come, first served basis during our open hours. All computers are available to students and community members using login information found at the base of each computer.
Wi-Fi is available for students using the "student" network and logging in using your VCCCD username and password. Community members may connect to the "guest" network by creating a temporary login. Follow the steps in the connecting to Wi-Fi FAQ page for more information.
Our tutors are VCCCD students and students from local universities who have been recommended by their instructors. Aside from helping students with course content, tutors also clarify instructions for assignments, help brainstorm ideas for papers and projects, and facilitate effective study habits and exam preparation.
