NEXT UP (formally known as CAFYES) is an educational support assistance program for eligible current or former foster youth.
PLEASE NOTE: As of October 24th, 2025 new incoming NEXT UP students are NOT automatically considered EOPS students. Students must apply to both programs separately if they would like to participate in either program and meet the separate eligibility criteria for each program to qualify for services.
Qualify for the NEXT UP Program
To qualify to be a NEXT UP student you must meet the following criteria:
- Was in foster care on or after your 13th birthday in any state
- Enrolled in at least 1 unit with the intent to enroll in 9 units through an EdPlan
- Are 25 years of age or younger at the time you apply for Next UP
- Your FAFSA/CADAA and primary college both list Oxnard College
How Do I Apply?
- If you have not done so, please meet with Fidelia Flores in Financial Aid to verify your status.
- Submit a NextUp application.
- Applicants can also apply by scanning a QR code available in the EOPS office or on our NextUp flyer. Paper applications are also available in the EOPS office.
- If Fidelia cannot verify your status you will need to submit a letter of verification of foster youth status. Please contact us directly if you require assistance with this.
