CalWORKs Program Eligibility

Are you eligible?

In order for a student-parent to be eligible for the CalWORKs Program, he or she MUST:

  • Be enrolled at VCCCD with the primary college being Oxnard
  • Be receiving the Adult Portion of TANF Benefits, also known as Cash Aid 

Are you ready?

In order to apply to the Oxnard College CalWORKs Program, you will need to complete the following steps BEFORE the Office is able to assist you:

  1. Apply for admission to Oxnard College
  2. Complete your FAFSA for this and next academic year
    1. Visit the OC Financial Aid webpage for more information. You can also find other great information regarding grants and scholarships on that page.
  3. Complete your online MyVCCCD Portal Orientation
    1. Please read this step-by-step tutorial for completing your mandatory online orientation.
  4. Receive Cash Aid from the County for you AND your children
    1. If not, you will not be eligible for the CalWORKs Program at this time. If you would like more information regarding Cash Aid and CalWORKs, please visit the Ventura County Human Services Agency Website.
    2. If you have a questions regarding your Benefits Status, you can check your Benefits Status by Smart Phone or Tablet, by Desktop Computer, or by Phone through the instructions provided on the Check Your Benefit Status webpage on the County of Ventura Human Services Agency website.
