APPLY for ADMISSION:

• An application for admission is only required if this is your first time taking classes at Oxnard College or it has been more more two semesters since you last attended.
• Follow instructions to create an OpenCCC account and submit your application
• Provide a valid email address & allow 24 hours to process your application and receive your new student email confirmation.

Set up your MyVCCCD account (first time users only)

• You will receive an acceptance email from Oxnard College with instructions on how to setup your MyVCCCD portal. The acceptance email contains a link to set up the portal. ***Please note the link expires in 20 days. 
• Regularly check your MyVCCCD email or activate mail forwarding option under MyACCOUNT settings in MyVCCCD
• Write down your Student ID number for your records

DUAL ENROLLMENT e-FORM

• Work with your school principal/counselor to pick your recommended college courses.
  • List all recommended courses on your Dual Enrollment - Recommendation e-form.
• Enter your school principal/counselor and parent/guardian's email addresses into the e-form so they can review and sign the recommendations.
  • Note: The parent/guardian's email and approval is only required once. If you previously submitted a form for approval, you will not be required to obtain approval again. 
• Make sure you enter the correct email addresses. If you input the incorrect email, the electronic form will not be forwarded so it can get processed.
  • This form must be signed by the student, school principal/counselor, and the student's parent/guardian before it can be processed by Admissions & Records.
• Home school Students: Download your Private School Affidavit and attach it to the e-form.

• Students 8^th grade or lower are required to connect with the Dual Enrollment Coordinator to clear their registration hold. This hold is essential to facilitate a smooth transition into Oxnard College's academic environment.
  • After applying to Oxnard College, please email Betty Ortiz at beatriz_ortiz4@vcccd.edu to request an appointment with the Dual Enrollment Coordinator. When sending your request from your MyVCCCD email, kindly provide your full name, student ID (900#), and any pertinent documents that may be necessary for the meeting.
  • The meeting will be an opportunity to talk about your academic journey, address any questions or concerns you may have, and make sure that all necessary steps are taken to create a successful educational experience at Oxnard College.
  • The Dual Enrollment Coordinator will determine if the student has the abilities and sufficient preparation to benefit from instruction at a community college, and that the student's safety and that of others will not be affected. The decision of the Dual Enrollment Coordinator shall be final.

• YOUR DUAL ENROLLMENT e-FORM WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY ROUTED FOR PROCESSING WHEN YOU CLICK SUBMIT.

• When your dual enrollment e-form is approved, you will receive an email to your MyVCCCD confirming the course is approved for registration on or after your registration date.

You are ALMOST there!

• Find the registration date on the "Registration Calendar" for the term of attendance. To find the date, look for "Begin dual enrollment registration". The registration appointment date is also available within MyVCCCD student portal under Pages and clicking on "Registration & Payments". 
• Approval to register for courses online will be authorized after the Dual Enrollment Forms are submitted to the Admissions and Records Office.

Oxnard College adheres to the guidelines established by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)—a federal legislation established to regulate access and maintenance of student records.

FERPA affords students certain rights with respect to their education records, including the right to:

• Inspect their education records
• Request an amendment of the records that the student believes are inaccurate
• Control disclosures of personally identifiable information contained in the students' education records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without consent.
• File a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education concerning alleged failures by the college to comply with the requirements of FERPA.

Parents, spouses and significant others have no inherent right to access student educational records.

• Dual enrollment students that have an IEP or 504 must meet with the college Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSPS/EAC) office prior to start of the semester for evaluation and approval of eligible and appropriate accommodations  to a college course. 
• It is the student's responsibility to drop classes by the deadline if no longer attending. Drops can be completed online via the MyVCCCD student portal or in person at the Admissions and Records Office by the appropriate deadline. Deadlines can be obtained online at www.oxnardcollege.edu/calendar or by clicking on the CRN of the class in the schedule of classes (www.oxnardcollege.edu/schedule). Failure to drop a class will result in a letter grade of an "F" noted on the student's permanent record (Transcript).
• The academic records of all students, including dual enrollment students, are private and will not be released without the student's written consent to anyone including the parent/guardian.
• Dual enrollment students are responsible for complying with all Oxnard College rules, student code of conduct, regulations, and deadline dates.
• Dual enrollment students must submit a transcript request for their records to be sent once their class has been completed. Transcripts are not sent automatically and cannot be sent without the student's consent.
• Oxnard College does not send grade cards. Dual enrollment students may use MyVCCCD to access their grades.

If you last attended Oxnard College as a dual enrollment student and have since graduated, you must complete a new online application for admission. You will be prevented from registering online until you have done so.

• What is Dual Enrollment? Dual Enrollment offers school students who have an opportunity to complete college course work while attending high school. Dual Enrollment provides transfer pathway and career education courses for high school students capable of advanced work and is not intended as remedial or makeup work.
• What grade level must I be for Dual Enrollment? Oxnard College allows Dual Enrollment students in K-12 to enroll. Students are no longer eligible for Dual Enrollment after completing the 12th grade. 

• Are any courses restricted for Dual Enrollment? No 

• What is FERPA? The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a Federal law that gives parents certain rights with respect to their children's education records. When a student turns 18 years old or enters a post-secondary institution at any age, all rights afforded to parents under FERPA transfer to the student. For this reason, Oxnard College can only provide information pertaining to a K-12 student's application, registration, etc., directly to the student regardless of age. If a student wishes for their parent/guardian to have access to their information, they must contact Admissions and Records to submit a release form. NOTE: the release form is valid for one-time only. Each time the student wishes for the parent/guardian to have access, a new release form must be submitted. 

• What terms/semesters does Oxnard College offer? Fall (August – December), spring (January – May) and summer (May – August).  

• How many classes can I take through Dual Enrollment? 11 units maximum. 

• Can I submit a paper Dual Enrollment form? The fastest way is to submit the Dual Enrollment Electronic Form. However, you can submit a Dual Enrollment paper form in English or Spanish. 

• How much do classes cost for Dual Enrollment? Enrollment fees and other fees are waived for Dual Enrollment students when the course(s) are held at the student's school site. Other fees will be charged when taking a courses that occur on the college campus. K-12 students enrolling in Oxnard College classes are responsible for purchasing any required textbooks/instructional materials and optional parking permit. You can use the Online Bookstore to look up required textbooks/materials by class section. Some class sections use only open or free textbooks, or other no-cost instructional materials. These classes are marked as ZTC$ for Zero-Textbook Cost in the Class Schedule. 

• Is there a deadline for Dual Enrollment? While there is no deadline to complete the Steps for Dual Enrollment, K-12 students are subject to the date that Registration Ends, Last Day to Add, Last Day to Drop Without Notation on Permanent Record, Last Day to Drop with a “W” and other deadlines for each term, as found in the Academic Calendar. 

• Your Oxnard College Student ID Number is a 9-digit number, e.g. 900XXXXXX. Students receive this number in a Welcome Email 1-3 business days after they submit an application.
