Commitment to Students with Disabilities
Oxnard College's Educational Assistance Center—Disabled Students Programs and Services (EAC-DSPS) is committed to ensuring that students with disabilities have equal and meaningful access to the College's educational programs, services, facilities, and activities.
Oxnard College complies with applicable federal and state laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other applicable disability-access laws and regulations. The College is committed to providing reasonable accommodations and support services to eligible students with disabilities, so they have an equitable opportunity to participate and succeed in their educational goals.
EAC-DSPS works collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and campus programs to:
- Provide reasonable academic accommodations and support services based on a student's disability-related functional limitations and individual educational needs.
- Promote equal access to classes, laboratories, examinations, technology, campus facilities, programs, events, and other College activities.
- Maintain an interactive process with students and appropriate College personnel when determining and implementing accommodations.
- Protect the confidentiality and privacy of students' disability-related information in accordance with applicable laws and College policies.
- Support students in developing self-advocacy skills and understanding their rights and responsibilities.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to implement approved accommodations while maintaining the essential academic requirements and learning outcomes of courses and programs.
- Address accessibility concerns and work toward removing barriers that may prevent students with disabilities from fully participating in the College community.
Our goal is not simply access, but equitable access. EAC-DSPS is committed to creating an inclusive educational environment in which students with disabilities are respected, supported, and provided a meaningful opportunity to achieve their academic and career goals.
