Dear Students,
The Ventura County Community College District is closely monitoring a red flag warning and high wind conditions across the region, which may result in power outages and potentially impact college and district operations.
At this time, Moorpark College, Oxnard College, Ventura College (main and east campuses) remain open, and all classes and services are operating as scheduled.
We are coordinating with local authorities and utility providers and will continue to assess conditions as they develop. Because weather conditions and potential power outages may vary by location, any changes to operations will be communicated by the affected college or district location.
We encourage you to monitor your respective college's official communication channels, including email, website alerts, and social media, for the latest information, particularly before traveling to campus.
For campus specific updates, please visit:
Updates will be provided by 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, or sooner if conditions change.
The District also uses its emergency notification system to provide important alerts and instructions to students and employees. We encourage all students to verify that their emergency contact information, particularly their cell phone number, is current in the MyVCCCD Portal to ensure they can receive text and voice notifications. Instructions for updating your information are attached.
We also encourage students to sign up for VC Alert, Ventura County's emergency notification system, to receive important alerts about emergencies and potential hazards in their communities.
Thank you for your attention and flexibility as we continue to prioritize the safety of our students, employees, and college communities.
