TRIO Upward Bound

TRIO Upward Bound specifically provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance. The program provides opportunities for participants to succeed in their precollege performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits. We offer workshops in academic, financial and career exploration; field trips to universities and other fun cultural events; high school campus visitations by our academic advisor for individualized educational planning, and a summer program. All these components are an important part in preparing our students to meet their education and personal goals.

Oxnard College was awarded the TRIO Upward Bound program in 2017. Currently, the project serves 70 high school students (grades 9-12) from Channel Islands and Hueneme High Schools every year.

Being a part of TRIO Upward Bound has many benefits to assist you while you are in high school, prepare you for college, and beyond! As long as you are eligible for our program and we have space, you can join in on the fun.

FUN and a community of like-minded peers!

To be eligible for our program, you must be a Channel Islands or Hueneme high school student enrolled in grades 9-12 (or if currently in 8th grade, if you will be enrolled at either high school the following academic year, you are eligible as well).

You must also:

Be a first-generation college student; meaning that neither parent has received a four-year (bachelor's) degree
OR
Meet specific taxable income guidelines set forth by the U.S. Department of Education
OR
Are academically struggling as evidenced by GPA and/or state test scores
