“We have a hunger for something like authenticity, but are easily satisfied by an ersatz facsimile” George Orwell

“In a time of deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” George Orwell.

“Inverted Realities“ aims to identify/interrogate shifting conditions where the technological embedded-ness filters and transforms our common sense in understanding the real and unreal. Filtered through technological seeing, the nature of our perceptions is subject to change, migrating from lived -bodily experience to a disembodied/remote mode of virtual experience where truth becomes a question not an answer.

Grounded in the paradoxical techno -condition of advancement and its mutating effects on ourselves, the works in the exhibition reflect on our complex relationships to the things in today’s world. Attempting to visualize various forms of representation and its contestation at the intersection of language, materiality, theatricality and bodily experiences, these artists reflect critical attitudes where the re-conceptualizations of traditional and new mediums help to problematize the notion of what represents and what is represented.

By contemplating and analyzing the dominant representational codes of social, political and cultural entities, the artworks interconnect memories and weave a web of unexpected correspondences in between past and present.
