All instructors who are teaching hybrid or fully-online courses have completed introductory training in online instruction. Any instructor who is interested in completing the training process in order to be eligible to teach hybrid or online courses should contact Instructional Technology or the Distance Education Committee and have a discussion on course scheduling with his or her department chair and dean.

Components of the training process includes:

  • Meet with Instructional Technology to learn about online instruction in general, including the ways in which it differs from face-to-face instruction, legal issues at both the state and federal levels (such as, "regular and effective contact"), and accessibility obligations and resources.
  • Complete training in the Learning Management System, which includes online andragogy best practices and state standards of online instruction.

Finally an instructor's training process is not complete until submitted to and approved by the Distance Education Committee.
