Robotics OUHSD

OUHSD Robotics is one of the initiatives stewarded by OC STEM Project Acabado which is funded by a Title III HSI STEM grant. The OUHSD First Robotics competition is 6 - 8 weeks long each semester and competition. Each First Robotics team includes 12 students with teacher/mentor. There are weekly meeting getting close to the competition. Students get to design and build an industrial-sized robot.

They are then able to participate in First Robotics Championship. This allows students to have structured and frequent opportunities to develop a sense of community through cascading mentoring and 21st century skills. This in turn, increases the number of pursuing STEM majors and careers. Also, this leads to increase college attendance in OC service area.

Aim of the Effort:

1. Strengthen STEM content capacity, knowledge and skills.

2. Strengthen STEM identity and engagement.

3. Increase STEM interest and STEM career awareness.
