As our students struggle with a reeling economy, few services feel as essential as the Financial Aid Office. Oxnard College’s dedicated Financial Aid team helps students with everything from applying for federal and state financial aid, to supporting our Dreamers and any students in need of a scholarship or a paying job here on campus. This team has been pulling some long hours lately and deserve our deepest gratitude. Of course, none of their efforts would be possible without the steadfast leadership of Linda Fa’asua.
Linda joined the OC family back in 1995 when she studied and wored here on campus. After earning her Bachelor’s degree from Cal Lutheran University, she returned to OC in order to serve her hometown. If you know Linda, you know she is strong professional who leads by example and works tirelessly to ensure our students can access the financial support needed to achieve their goals.
With a student-centered mindset, Linda is creative and resourceful in providing funds for students experiencing hardship. She makes time to sit on state-wide and national financial aid associations, where she champions the issues facing OC students and their families. Linda is also passionate about serving our foster students and other disadvantaged communities. Over decades of service to Oxnard College, Linda has empowered countless students and colleagues to be their very best.
“Linda is an exceptional leader, supervisor, and person,” shared Mayra Hernandez Gonzalez. “She will go out of her way to help the neediest of students and always pushes our team to put students first.”
Our Financial Aid Office is working around the clock to provide students with the support they need during this challenging time. We thank each of them - Diana Garcia, Edlin Marquez, Fidelia Flores, Jessica Flores, Maria Ruth Cervantes, Mayra Hernandez Gonzalez, Roberta Chinery, and of course Linda Fa’asua – for their selfless dedication to our students, particularly those hit hardest by this demanding year.
