Internship Overview

  • Real-world experience: Work on challenging projects on cutting-edge energy research topics in science and engineering
  • Summer salary: $3,600 stipend
  • Work in the San Francisco Bay Area: Travel to/from UC Berkeley, summer housing, and meals will be provided
  • Mentorship: Work one-on-one with UC Berkeley faculty, research mentors, and program staff
  • Professional development: Transfer preparation advising, STEM career seminars, guest speakers, and lab tours
  • Network: Meet other aspiring scientists and engineer from other California community colleges

Eligibility

  • Enrolled in a California community college at the time of application.
  • Plan to return to a community college in California in Fall 2032.
  • Plan to apply for transfer admission to a baccalaureate program in science or engineering in Fall 2023 (for Fall 2024 start).
  • At least eighteen years of age by April 1, 2023.
  • 3.0+ GPA in science, engineering, and math courses
  • Completed two semester calculus courses, or three quarter calculus courses, by June 9, 2023.
  • Completed three science or engineering courses, one of which has a laboratory component, by June 9, 2023.
  • Due to funding restrictions, international students utilizing F-1 of J-1 visas are not eligible for this program. Undocumented students are encouraged to apply.
  • No prior research experience expected or required.

The TTE Program is committed to broadening participation in science and engineering. Community college students who receive financial aidare the first in their family to go to college, are women, are veterans, and/or are members of other communities underrepresented in STEM are strongly encouraged to apply.

Omni Application - LIVE!

DOE Omni Technology Alliance Internship Program - Summer 2023

The Omni application is officially live and open for business! Such a fitting way to end FY22 and be prepared for 2023.

The following benefits will be offered:

  • Stipend – $750 per week (stipend will increase to $850 and $950 in the second and third year of future participation, respectively)
  • Housing Allowance – A housing allowance of a minimum $240 per week will be provided.
  • Travel - Travel reimbursement will be provided for inbound and outbound expenses up to $1,000 for participants who relocate more than fifty miles, one-way, from the assigned hosting site. Depending on your project assignment, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for travel and education to further the educational goals of your appointment.
  • Virtual Appointments: Appointments may be hosted virtually at the discretion and approval of the host site or facility.

The Omni Technology Alliance Internship Program will begin on June 5, 2023, and end on August 11, 2023. Summer interns will be expected to commit to full-time participation based on 40 hours per week, including a week-long culminating event in Washington, D.C., August 5-11, 2023. Exceptions to the proposed period may be considered on a case-by-case basis to accommodate the candidate’s academic schedule.
