Importance of Accreditation at Oxnard College

Oxnard College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, 331 J Street, Suite 200, Sacramento, CA 95814 (415) 506-0234 (accjc@accjc.org) an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Commission on Recognition of Postsecondary Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education.

Oxnard College is re-accredited every seven years. The process is both internal and external, with both the College and the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) performing evaluations and engaging in dialog about our mission, our performance in the past, and our vision for the future. The review covers every aspect of the college, from the quality of our educational programs and services to administrative decision processes to resources and finances. Institutional accreditation allows us to provide Federal financial aid to our students, receive Federal funding, offer degree and certification programs that are recognized and accepted by other institutions, and articulate our courses with other colleges and universities.

Accreditation assures students, faculty, staff, and the public that Oxnard College meets the following standards:

I.        Mission, Academic Quality and Institutional Effectiveness, and Integrity
II.       Student Learning Programs and Support Services
III.      Resources
IV.      Leadership and Governance
