Registration priority is granted to continuing students who are in “good academic standing” (defined for this purpose only as a student who is not on academic or progress probation for two semesters) and have not earned more than 90 units. Continuing students are assigned registration appointments based on the number of completed and in-progress degree-applicable units at VCCCD.

New and returning students must complete the Student Success activities including College Orientation, English & Math Placement Recommendations, and an Initial or Comprehensive Educational Plan with a counselor  to be eligible for Priority Registration.  Priority Registration is important because it allows students to register early for their desired courses and schedule.  To complete the required activities, conduct the following:

  • College orientation can be completed on-line
  • Visit the 1st-STEP Center website for additional information on the Informed Self-Placement tool and English & Math Placement Recommendations. The 1st STEP Center can be reached at 805-678-5864.
  • Initial or Comprehensive Educational Plan, contact Counseling Department at 805-678-5816

If you have any questions about these requirements, please contact the Welcome Center at 805-678-5907 or Counseling at 805-678-5816.

We welcome you to Oxnard College!

Definitions:

**Good academic standing is defined solely for assigning enrollment priority as a student who is not on Probation 2 status has not been placed on academic or progress probation or more serious academic sanction for two consecutive terms. Students who are on probation for two consecutive semesters will lose enrollment priority for the next semester or summer session.

Educational plan is each student's guide to what they need to do to achieve his/her goals.

Initial educational plan is a 1 or 2 semester educational plan that may be created by the student or with the assistance of a counselor. This is not an approved educational plan.

Comprehensive educational plan covers all of the terms needed for student’s to achieve their course of study.  This is the approved educational plan that students must have by the time they complete 15 units of coursework.
