Maria del Carmen Guerrero

After a combined 40 years in education both as a classified employee and as a faculty member (34 years as a professor of business and computer information systems), Ms. Guerrero was appointed Dean of Career and Technical Education at Oxnard College on February 13, 2008.

Ms. Guerrero began her career in education as a division secretary at Moorpark College (MC) and then moved to a full-time faculty position in a bilingual program teaching clerical skills in MC's off-campus center in Fillmore.  She has been a full-time instructor at Oxnard College since 1992 and also taught as adjunct faculty at both Moorpark and Ventura Colleges. She served as Academic Senate President at Oxnard College for three calendar years, 1998 to 2000, and served on accreditation teams for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of La Verne and received her associate of arts degree from Moorpark College.  She has served as President of the Board of Directors for the Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce and has been involved with non-profit arts and culture organizations.  Currently, Ms. Guerrrero is serving a two- year term as the Regional Vice President (South Central Region) for California Community Colleges Association of Occupational Education (CCCAOE).
