Writing and Reading Center
In the Writing Skills Center (WSC) students can work with tutors at any stage of the writing process, from organizing ideas, developing outlines, to focusing on a topic, and helping with grammar usage. Tutors are trained to use tutorial time efficiently working with the student in 20 minutes sessions, to begin, critique, and improve the written work in progress. Proper writing is best done on an ongoing basis; our tutors are not miracle workers whose job is to “save” student writers with last minute assignments, but rather to address writing issues within the framework of a given tutorial session. The WSC tutors will not edit, rewrite or change anything in a paper; in other words, they will not write or rewrite papers for students. They will provide students with strategies for revising and editing their own work.
