This has been a busy week and I have much to share with you all. Robert Cabral on behalf of the Professional Development Committee introduced the Professional Development Activity forms at the Academic Senate. These are the forms that faculty and staff would use to request support for travel or any professional development activity. They can be filled out and forwarded to Robert Cabral and the Professional Development committee. I also received confirmation that we would again have funds to support the participation of three individual in the Great Teacher’s Seminar in Hawaii to be held in August. This year up to three attendees can receive assistance with the costs up to $1,666. This may not cover all the expenses but it should cover most of them. The deadline for applications is March 12^th in the hope that we can make an early determination as to who will comprise the Oxnard contingent and then they might be able to get some good airfare deals to stretch their dollars. The forms to nominate our colleagues for recognition are also now available. We have the nominations for the Teresa Archuleta, the Mark Dever, and the Wallace Stevens awards and those ought to be returned to me by the deadline of March 12^th. The nominations for the John Milton award should be directed to Monica Zavala and the nominations for the Frank Gilbreth award should be directed to Dennis Marletti.
