Oxnard College's 42nd Commencement will take place on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the
Athletic Field Complex at Oxnard College.

A mandatory rehearsal will be held at 12:00 noon on graduation day at the Oxnard College Gymnasium.
Rehearsal will last approximately half an hour to 1 hour. It is not necessary for you to bring your cap and
gown to the rehearsal ceremony.

The commencement ceremony is a celebration of your accomplishments. We encourage you to invite your
family, friends, faculty, counselors and staff that provided guidance and support. Feel free to use this printable and fillable invitation (English / Spanish) to invite your guests to the commencement ceremony.

Graduation Fair

  • Wednesday, April 19, 2017 - 11:00 am - 3:00 pm  Location: Bookstore

Commencement Rehearsal

  • A mandatory rehearsal will be held at 12:00 noon on graduation day at the Oxnard College Gymnasium.  Rehearsal will last approximately half an hour to 1 hour.   • Commencement ceremonies are held once a year, and will take place on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the Athletic Field Complex at Oxnard College.  We look forward to seeing you at this special event and encourage you to invite your family and friends to share the occasion with you.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When is my graduation ceremony?
There is one academic graduation per Academic Year and it typically takes place at the end of the Spring semester. The Graduation Ceremony will include those students who graduated in the Fall term and those who Petition to Graduate in the Spring and Summer semesters as well. This year's graduation ceremony will take place on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the Athletic Field Complex.

When will I receive additional information about the ceremony?
The commencement letter is typically mailed out in the middle of April. Please make sure you have a current mailing address on file. You can update your information on the MyVCCCD student portal.  

Where can I purchase my cap and gown?
Visit the OC Bookstore for all your graduation needs, including Cap, Gown and Tassel set, diploma frames, announcements, class rings, and more.

Is rehearsal mandatory?
Yes. I am a student with a disability and need special accommodations. Who do I contact?
Any student with a disability should contact the Educational Assistance Center (EAC) in Student Services Building if they intend to participate in the commencement ceremony and need accommodations. The EAC office can be reached at 805-678-5830.

 

Where do I pickup my graduation medallion?

In honor of your accomplishment, all candidates who participate in the graduation ceremony will be given a medallion provided by the Oxnard College Foundation to acknowledge their achievement. Medallions will be distributed and worn at the ceremony. The medallion will not fit over your graduation cap, please leave your graduation cap off until you receive your medallion.  

 

Where do Veterans pickup their commemorative medallion?
Veterans participating in the ceremony will receive a commemorative medallion honoring their service in the Armed Forces. The medallion can be picked up in the Admissions and Records Office.

What time do graduates have to report for graduation?
On the day of commencement, please meet at the gymnasium NO LATER THAN 5:00 PM where all participants will line up. 

Do we have to pay for parking?
No.There will be free parking in our campus lots for this event, including student and staff parking. No ticketing will occur during this event unless you are parked illegally. Disabled parking is available near the gymnasium.  Please remind your guests not to park in the red emergency zones, handicapped and fire hydrants.

Is there a limit on how many guests I can invite?
No. There is no limit on the number of guests. We encourage you and your guests to arrive early to ensure seating. Reserved seating will not be allowed. Gates to field seating will close at 6:00 PM.

Is a professional photographer going to take pictures?
A professional photographer will be present to record the moment when you receive your diploma/certificate.  However, purchase of the photographs is entirely optional and not required. Your family and friends are invited to take photographs as well. 

I am graduating with honors, where do I pickup my honor cord?
Students receiving their associate degree with honors will be provided honor cords to acknowledge their special academic achievement with their cap and gown purchase at the bookstore.

What is the minimum GPA to graduate with honors?  
Highest Honors - 4.0 GPA - Gold Cord
High Honors - 3.75 GPA - Silver Cord
Honors - 3.50 GPA - White Cord
**To qualify for the honors designation, a minimum of 30 units must be completed at Ventura County Community College District.**

What GPA will be used for the commencement program?
The cumulative GPA at the end of the term Fall term will be used to determine your honors standing for the commencement program.

Can I bring air horns and balloons?
To ensure all guests have a pleasant experience during this event, please refrain from bringing air horns and balloons.

Will the graduation ceremony be streamed online? 
Yes. Oxnard College has a distinctive way of recognizing the achievements of our graduates.  Webcasting of the graduation ceremony will be live on Oxnard College website. Click on this link to view the ceremony. Additional instructions on accessing the webcast will be available on the college website.
 
When will my degree and/or certificate be available for pickup?
Degrees and Certificates are typically available for pickup 8 - 10 weeks after the terms ends. Recipients will receive an email once the degree and/or certificate is available for pick up in the Admissions and Records Office. Degrees and Certificates are not mailed out, they must be picked up in the Admissions and Records Office. If you are no longer residing in Ventura County, you can submit a request to have it mailed.
