Women's Volleyball Assistant Coach: Brooke Hanson
The Condors have hired a new assistant for the women’s volleyball program. Brooke Hanson (image courtesy of CBC) was a four-year letter winner at UC-Santa Barbara where she played every position except for middle blocker. Hanson made her pro beach volleyball debut in a qualifier in Santa Barbara with Brooke Rundle, a former teammate at UCSB.
In 2007, she advanced to her first three Final Fours but missed the entire 2008 season due to injury. Brooke came back stronger than ever, winning the AVP's "Best Female Defender" title. She and partner Lisa Rutledge finished the season as the fifth-ranked team and as the best defensive duo. Brooke wound up ninth in individual points, a new best for her.
Coach Hanson returned to UCSB to become an the assistant women's volleyball coach from 2003-2007, under Ms. Kathy Gregory. The Gauchos won three Big West Championships during her tenure.
She joins Head Coach David Fischer to make one of the best coaching tandems around. “We feel extremely fortunate to have these two great coaches leading our budding women’s volleyball program,” said athletic director Jonas Crawford. “Brooke will bring a wealth of professional experience and will act as a great mentor for all of our student-athletes.”
