To take an assessment, you must
- Have already submitted an application for admission
- Bring a photo ID to the Assessment Center
Assessments are used, with the assistance of an academic counselor, to determine initial course placement (see the course sequence) and help you determine the course(s) that offer you the best chance for academic success.Placement tests also demonstrate satisfaction of a pre-requisite.
The assessments are computerized, and can take up to two or three hours. (They are approximately one hour each.) It is important that you take the assessment seriously and do your best. This can save you from having to repeat classes that you have already taken. (See preparation tips.)
If you are a student with a documents disability and need test accommodations, please call the Educational Assistance Center (EAC) at 805-986-5830.
