Professor Kevin Hughes

Professor Hughes started teaching full-time at Oxnard College in 2012, although he has been teaching part-time at Ventura College since 1999. He has also taught at College of the Canyons, Santa Barbara City College, Cuesta College, University of Phoenix, CSUN, and the OSHER Institute. In total, Professor Hughes has taught 20 different types of history courses, but specializes at OC in teaching US History, World History, California History, and Women’s History.

As a graduate of VC, UCSB, and CSUN (12 years total academic preparation), Professor Hughes understands what it is like to be a community college student seeking to transfer and does everything in his power to prepare his students to be successful.

He has turned his office (LS-M) into a “1930s-1940s History Museum” (see picture), which is open to anyone who emails ahead to schedule a tour. If you simply want to chat about school, history, or life, Professor Hughes will be glad to do that too.
