Resources for Parents

Parent Education

Parent education is an important aspect of the overall Child Development Center program. On a regular basis we will send home a variety of child development articles. Additionally our monthly newsletter will offer information on your child’s classroom program. All families (parents) are invited to attend a roundtable discussion that is designed to support your parenting skills or to volunteer in their child’s classroom.  The Child Development Associates will be hosting three 1 hour “Roundtable” Child Development Discussions each semester. Past topics of discussion have included: Ages and Stages, Positive Discipline Techniques, and School Readiness.

Parent Advisory Committee

The Parent Advisory Committee plans events to generate extra money for the children’s programs.  We regularly purchase educational materials and equipment for our classrooms with funds raised. Regular fund raising events are fun and afford participants the opportunity to meet other parents and caregivers. On-going events include: Plant sales, Holiday Craft Fair, and raffle baskets.

Round Table Discussions

Parent Group meetings are designed to be informal and will address parenting issues, concerns and problems that are at the forefront of parents' minds. Our Associate CD Associates, will help parents clarify the issues, include information about child development, and introduce skills, techniques, or suggestions that may help and support parents as they work through a given situation or want to change a behavior. They will host group discussions to hear other parents' experiences with similar issues and their solutions. These meetings are extremely beneficial to new parents and are highly encouraged by the Center. Meeting times are determined each month based on a survey of parent's availability.
