2010 Youth Conference
Registration Closed 3/31/10
Friday, April 23, 2010 from 8:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. @ Oxnard College Campus
Motivated by last year’s great success, Oxnard Community College and this year’s Annual Youth Leadership Conference Planning Committee members announced it will host this years youth conference.
The purpose of the conference is to expose high school juniors and seniors to an inspirational day. Inspiration that comes with motivational speakers, a wealth of information and workshops with titles such as “Show Me The Money” a workshop designed to provide information regarding Financial Aid and Scholarships, “CSI”, which explores careers in criminology and “Lights, Camera, Action! Careers in the Motion Picture & Television Industry.
A total of 30 workshops, covering the fields of medicine, law, social work, robotics, business, journalism, teaching and more, will be offered and presented by professional experts. College representatives have already begun to visit local high schools in order to ensure that information regarding this extraordinary conference is received by those that would benefit the most – our youth. Students interested, must contact their high school counselor to register.
Last year, nearly 800 high schools students attended, over 100 community and campus volunteers were present, and approximately 15 business organizations made monetary contributions to support the development and implementation of the conference. The overall response was remarkable. This year, at least 1,000 students are expected - making the need for support even greater.
