Scholars' Lecture Series
Presented by the faculty members of Oxnard College The Oxnard College Scholars' Series is presented by members of the college faculty. Each program is a rich educational and cultural event. Presentations vary from lectures to slide shows to panel discussions to performances. All programs are on Wednesdays from noon to 1 p.m. in LS-8 (Clock Tower Auditorium).
We encourage all students and staff from throughout the District and invite members of the community to attend.

"The Forgotten Perpetrators" -- Moorpark College Prof. Dan Brown will present a powerpoint presentation on women who served in the “Nazi Killing Business” and their roles in the concentration camps.

"Escape, Discovery & Loss: Zora Neale Hurston?" - In celebration of Black History Month Prof. Anthony Rodriguez will discuss the stages of a love odyssey in Hurston’s novel "Their Eyes were Watching God.”

"The Education of African American Men” -In celebration of Black History Month, OC counselor Ron Jackson will discuss how psychological tests are used to place African American males in special education classes and the psychological and social effects on the those young men.

"Perspectives on Shakespeare" -- Oxnard College Theatre Arts Professor Mary Ellen Kazmark will facilitate a discussion with Professors Jim Merrill and Rena Petrello about the upcoming production of "Othello" to open at Oxnard College on March 22. During the lecture three perspectives will be examined: literary background, acting and direction. |
