OXNARD COLLEGE WELCOMES CSU-CI PRESIDENT
About a month into his new position as President of California State University, Channel Islands, Dr. Richard Rush was welcomed by his closest community college neighbor -- Oxnard College -- at a friendly reception of administrators, faculty, staff and students held the morning of July 18 in the President's Conference Room.
During a tour of the campus Oxnard College Interim President Michael Gregoryk took the opportunity to renew his friendship with Dr. Rush; almost 17 years ago the two met when both worked in San Marcos. At the time Rush was executive vice president of the San Diego State University North County Campus that eventually became CSU San Marcos and Gregoryk was Vice President of Administrative Services for the Palomar Community College District.
Viewing construction of the new Community/Student Services now underway on the OC campus, Dr. Rush reflected on the "perpetual" re-construction work that will transform the former Camarillo State Hospital into a technologically innovative university campus.
"I value every invitation to meet members of the community who have been waiting for years for their own university," said Dr. Rush. "I'm also pleased to see that the Oxnard campus is responding to the needs of its students and the surrounding community."
