36 OXNARD COLLEGE REGIONAL FIREFIGHTER ACADEMY STUDENTS GRADUATE AUG. 17
Thirty-six aspiring firefighters of “Class 15” graduated from the Oxnard College Regional Fire Academy on Saturday, August 17, at the Regional Training Center at the Camarillo Airport.
Prior to the ceremony, the cadets participated in firefighter demonstrations — rappeling down a brick tower, extricating a mannequin from a wrecked auto and dousing a fire.
Fire Technology Instructors Patrick Easley and Gary W. Morgan thanked the families of the cadets for their continuous support during the intense summer session.
“The public’s trust rate in you (firefighters) is 99 percent,” said Ventura County Fire Protection District Chief Bob Roper, quoting a survey in USA Today. That percentage increased after the terrorist attacks of September 11.
