OC JOINS "CAMPUS CHANGE"
Contact: OXNARD COLLEGE SELECTED TO JOIN “CAMPUS CHANGE” NETWORK FOR TWO-YEAR INITIATIVE ON STUDENT EQUITY OXNARD, California -- Oxnard College is one of nine California Community Colleges to be selected to join the "Campus Change Network." Leaders from selected colleges will meet to share models that have created fundamental campus reforms involving student access and equity. The Community College Campus Change Network is a project of California Tomorrow's Community College Access and Equity Initiative. Since 1984, the Initiative has supported community change around matters of diversity and equity in public schools, early childhood programs, and philanthropic and after school/youth development programs. Along with Oxnard College, other community colleges that will participate in the program are: Los Medanos College, Pasadena City College, Cosumnes River College in Sacramento, Merced College, Chabot College in Hayward, Los Angeles Southwest College, College of the Sequoias in Visalia and Evergreen Valley College in San Jose. Oxnard College's team includes: Executive Vice President of Student Learning Ramiro Sanchez, Student Services Dean Leo Orange, Academic Senate President Jeannette Redding, Director of Institutional Research Darla Cooper, Associated Student Government President Jose Luis Hernandez, faculty member Lilia Ruvalcaba, Financial Aid Officer Linda Faasua, and Classified Senate President Jose Cornelio. "We were amazed with the diversity and number of members assembled to be part of each campus' leadership team," said Ireri Valenzuela-Vergara, Director of the Campus Change Network. "We are thrilled to be partnering with Oxnard College and we look forward to our first meeting on September 18-20, 2006" at the Westerbeke Ranch Conference Center outside the town of Sonoma. #
