OXNARD COLLEGE SCIENCE FAIR CAREER EXPO IS SET FOR APRIL 5
On Wednesday, April 5, 2006, the Oxnard College Science and Math Outreach effort and the Coastal Chapter of The American Petroleum Institute (API) will present the “Interactive Science Career Expo” in cooperation with the Ventura County Science Fair to be held at the Ventura County Fairgrounds.
“Science Makes the World Go Round,” will be the theme for the “Interactive Science Career Expo,” according to event coordinator Dr. Michael Abram. The expo will provide Science Fair participants with information relating to career options and educational opportunities throughout the range of the sciences.
There will be a variety of interactive displays, breakout sessions, and professionals to provide information about career and educational opportunities in the fields of science, math, health, conservation, agriculture, technology and engineering. As in past years, there will be an emphasis on the Ventura County industries of oil and gas, biotechnology, agriculture, marine science, regional education programs and how they contribute to the local economy.
Last year’s expo featured about 65 science-related presenters including the American Petroleum Institute, Amgen, Baxter, Boeing, Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary, IBM, St. John’s Regional Medical Center, Verizon, Divecon, the U.S. Navy, Army, Coast Guard, Ventura County Fire Dept. Hazmat Training, Kalani Family Chiropractic and the Oxnard College Math, Science and Technology Depts.
