OXNARD NOONTIME ROTARY HONORS OC STUDENTS
The Oxnard Noontime Rotary Club recently enjoyed a catered luncheon at Oxnard College and listened to four inspirational stories from four OC students. On June 18, members of the community group were welcomed to the campus by Dr. Ruth Hemming, Interim Executive Vice President for Student Learning as Rotary program director Richard Regnier -- who also serves as legal counsel for the Oxnard College Foundation -- expressed his ongoing support for Oxnard College.
Nancy Gregg, Resource Development coordinator for Oxnard College, said that the Rotary group was eager to listen to the success stories of the four students who were the recipients of four Oxnard College Foundation scholarships at the May 5 Awards Banquet. The group truly reflected the diversity of Oxnard College, as international student Miki Suga of Japan, Vietnamese-American Tung Nguyen, Stephanie Porter, an African-American, and Anglo-American Danielle Quintana all credited the college with helping them achieve academic success. Ms. Suga has already been accepted at the University of California at Berkeley and leaves this week to move to the Bay area. |
