"DIA DE LOS NINOS" CELEBRATION IS
APRIL 3, 2003 AT OXNARD COLLEGE
Volunteers will help coordinate the “Dia de Los Ninos” educational event to be held Thursday, April 3, 2003, in celebration of Cesar Chavez Week at Oxnard College.
About 700 or more fifth-graders from the Oxnard Elementary School, Ocean View, Port Hueneme and Rio School districts will be brought to campus by bus to tour the Oxnard College campus. They will also watch a staged performance of folklorico dancing and theatrical skits featuring farmworker songs presented by Oxnard’s Teatro Inlakech, followed by a picnic-style lunch in front of the OC Gymnasium with music provided by DJ Mystery.
Event organizer Nikki Cayanan, Student Activities Specialist at Oxnard College, said that dozens of staff and students will serve as volunteers are to guide the students and their teachers around campus before the entertainment begins in the Oxnard College Gym.
“This event is a day of college enrichment, fun and cultural activities,” said Ms. Cayanan.

9:30am Students arrive at Oxnard College
9:50am Campus Tours begin
10:20am Welcome by Dr. Lydia Ledesma-Reese, Oxnard College President
Oxnard College Gym
10:40am Variety Show by Teatro Inlakech
11:30am Picnic style lunch in front of Gym w/ music by DJ Mystery
12:30pm Students return to school
