OC FALL SPEECH TOURNAMENT SEEKING VOLUNTEERS FOR JUDGING
OC Speech Instructor Amy London is seeking volunteers as speech judges for the next OC Speech Tournament to be held Tuesday, December 4, 2007, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Faculty, staff and administrators who volunteer need to dedicate three hours of their time to judge the persuasive, oral interpretation or informative speeches given by Speech 101 students. Ms. London offers to train volunteers if they have little or no experience in judging. All speech forms and paperwork will be prepared in advance and ultimately, the volunteers will be asked to provide constructive criticism to students and help to create a speech community at Oxnard College. "I am also looking for a great opening 'Slam' Poet, informative speaker or persuasive speaker for the welcome ceremony," said Ms. London, preferably one who is reasonably priced.
