OXNARD COLLEGE ADOPT A COMPUTER PROGRAM
DISTRIBUTES DONATED COMPUTERS
Oxnard College’s innovative “Adopt a Computer” program has distributed computers to enrolled students with the start of the 2003 Fall Semester.
The Oxnard College Foundation sponsors the annual computer giveaways, providing a means for disadvantaged students to take computers home to assist in their academic studies.

Following a recent donation of computers from local community businesses and government agencies such as the U.S. Department of the Interior, The Gap, the City of Oxnard and Oxnard, Moorpark and Ventura Colleges, thirty computers were distributed to Oxnard College students beginning with ten on Aug. 27, ten on Sept. 3, and another ten computers on Sept. 10.
Students must be enrolled at Oxnard College with 12 units or more and must demonstrate a financial need in order to take the computers for the semester. All computers are equipped with pre-installed software, a keyboard, a monitor and attached mouse. The computers feature a Pentium II chip, 64 megabytes of memory, a 3-gigabyte hard drive with Windows 98SE and Office Pro 2000 software.
Oxnard College wants to once again thank Augie and his team for helping OC students find their "PATHWAYS TO EXCELLENCE." |
