MCNISH ART GALLERY PRESENTS JIM WEBB: "IT'S ABOUT TIME" ART EXHIBITION BEGINNING SEPT. 30, 2009 -- Oxnard College’s McNish Gallery presents It’s About Time, a solo exhibition by Ventura County Artist, Jim Webb, featuring a series of challenging and uplifting large-scale mixed-media narratives. A reception for the artist will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, from 4:00-6:00 pm, with an Artist Lecture at 4:30pm. Jim Webb has dedicated much of his life to the arts, both in practice of his craft and as a working professional in various capacities. For over ten years, Webb worked as a master printer at Gemini G.E.L. and printed for blue chip artists such as Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Frank Stella. While working and collaborating with artists at Gemini, Lannan Foundation, MOCA in LA and the Gagosian Gallery, Webb continued to develop his own work and art practice. It’s About Timeis reflective of Webb’s artistic development and the deep influence of working intimately with iconic 20th Century artists. His multilayered collages are thought-provoking, powerfully emotional, and display his unique vision as an artist and collaborator.
In conjunction with the exhibition, Webb will be a guest artist for Focus On The Masters Tuesday Talk Series where he will share his stories about his artistic development and his extraordinary collaborations with 20th Century iconic artists. The event will take place on November 3, 2009, 7:00-8:30 pm at the Technology Development Center, 5200 Valentine Road, Ventura. The McNish Art Gallery is a gallery space located on the Oxnard College campus at 4000 South Rose Avenue, Oxnard CA 93033 and welcomes public viewing two times a week or by appointment. Gallery hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:30am-1pm and by appointment. A reception for the artist will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, from 4:00-6:00 pm, with an Artist Lecture at 4:30pm.
