OC FOUNDATION TO DEDICATE “LOPEZ TOWER” MAY 3
OXNARD, California—The Oxnard College Clock tower will be re-dedicated as the “Lopez Tower” when the Oxnard College Foundation renames the imposing structure after Oxnard’s longtime mayor Dr. Manuel Lopez during a special ceremony to be held Friday, May 3 at 2 p.m.
Almost a year ago the Oxnard College Foundation’s “Lopez Tower” Committee spearheaded a campaign in which dozens of friends of Mayor Lopez were invited to pledge $500 each to help rename the structure. Dr. Lopez, a longtime supporter of Oxnard College, has always advocated for education and its value to the entire community.
During the dedication ceremony, local legislators will offer proclamations of support and will recognize Dr. Lopez and his accomplishments. There will be an unveiling of a plaque listing the “Friends of Mayor Manny Lopez” which will be affixed to the clocktower. The dedication will be followed by a reception hosted by the Foundation near the Letters and Science Administration Office.
All Oxnard College faculty, staff, administrators and students have been invited to the ceremony. The public is also invited and free parking is available in the parking lots near Bard Road.
