The City of Oxnard has invited Oxnard College to participate in its month-long celebration of Latino Heritage Month, beginning September 15, 2008, and concluding on October 15, 2008. Many of the events are designed to highlight Latino culture, including music, dance and art. The Oxnard College M.E.Ch.A. and the Oxnard College Speakers Lecture Series will also feature political and business-related events during scheduled Wednesday presentations. Below is an updated listing of some of the events scheduled on the Oxnard College campus during the month-long observance:
Sept. 15 – Oct. 15
“LATINO VISIONS -- An Exhibition of Latino Art”– Begins on Wednesday, Sept. 15, with an opening reception and an artist’s lecture at 5:30 p.m. at the McNish Art Gallery, Oxnard College, 4000 S. The Oxnard College Associated Student Government will sponsor a voter registration drive on campus at 12:30 p.m.
ASG “Live” presents the Ventura County chapter of the League of Women Voters presenting an overview of the state ballot initiatives on the November 4 ballot. The session begins at 12:30 p.m. in LS-8 (the Clocktower Auditorium at Oxnard College).
