| Last year’s team of 30 or so Oxnard College faculty, staff and managers managed to plant flowers and trim hedges, wash windows and sweep debris out of parking lots during the annual Clean Up Day hosted by the Oxnard College Foundation.
Now it’s time for the fourth annual Campus Clean-Up Day, to be held this year on Friday, Oct. 17.
OC Foundation Community Development specialist Connie Owens said all interested volunteers should meet at 9 a.m. in the Maintenance and Operations yard for coffee and Danish and to receive their clean-up assignments. Tasks include window cleaning, dusting, weeding and planting and trash pick-up and gum scraping from sidewalk areas.
Participants need to bring their own sunscreen, gloves, hats and hand tools to work. The Foundation is planning to donate and plant a Bunya Bunya Tree around the gymnasium to help beautiful the landscaping in the area. At 11:30 a.m., the foundation will be providing a hotdog lunch at the cafeteria for all those who participate in the clean-up.
If possible, please contact Connie Owens at 986-5889 to let her know about the food count and a project preference.
“The foundation would like to thank everyone that has participated in the past and we are looking forward to having a great turn out on the 17th,” she added.
