On April 11, 2002, Oxnard College's ENLACE High School Partnership Program was showcased at the Kellogg Foundation's ENLACE National Conference in Chicago. The program was presented in the form of a 10 minute video highlighting the achievements of the program within the local public high school district. The video was produced by Andres Orozco, who is the newly hired media developer for ENLACE at Oxnard College. This innovative program offers local high school students an opportunity to enroll in community college courses that lead to dual credit. In essence, local high schools will allow their students to use community college course work to also meet high school requirements. In effect, a student can get a head start with their college education while at the same time meeting their high school requirements. Thus far, nearly 500 students have taken advantage of this program at Oxnard College. The success of this program represents a collaborative effort between staff from the Division of Liberal Education, the Division of Math & Sciences, the Division of Off-Campus Programs & Community Initiatives and the hard working staff at Student Services.
In particular, the staff from Admissions and Records deserve a BIG THANKS for their continuing support and for their patience! Next fall, the Division of Business & Technology will be joining the effort as we add CIS to our offerings at the high schools.
