The Channel Islands Chapter of Links, Incorporated and the BEA (Black Educators Association) of Oxnard College will co-sponsor the Fifth Annual "Youth Summit" conference at Oxnard College on Saturday, February 11, 2006, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The keynote event will take place in the Letters and Science Lecture Hall (LS-8) located near the campus clock tower.
Students are invited to register at the event or in advance for workshops that allow participants and their families to interact with professionals from the fields of law enforcement, education, healthcare, science, telecommunications, college admission and financial aid. Parents can find out abut tools and techniques to assist and support positive parents. Other session topics include writing skills, science in every day life, various careers and techniques for academic success.
Following formal presentations there will also be an open forum entitled, “YOUTH SPEAK, LINKS LISTEN,” in collaboration with the Amgen Black Employee Network. The forum is intended for young members of the community to express their concerns about current political issues, job opportunities and overcoming barriers to higher education.
