DR. LUGA PODESTA DONATES $1,500 TO OXNARD COLLEGE TRAINING ROOM
In an effort to maintain the physical well-being of Oxnard College athletes, Oxnard orthopedic physician Dr. Luga Podesta has donated his $1,500 fee as team physician back to the college.
Dr. Podesta has been making this generous donation ever since he became the college’s team physician, said college trainer Marti Dibble.
The donation will help maintain the athletic training room equipment and supplies. The donation also helps OC students participating on athletic teams who struggle to pay for their insurance deductibles.
Dr. Podesta has long been associated with the Oxnard College program and in 1995 became the team physician for all college athletic teams.
“Dr. Podesta is a vital part of the OC Athletics program,” said Ms. Dibble. “His concern for the health of athletes has been demonstrated by his generous contributions of time and money to the athletic program at Oxnard College.”
A native of Seaford, New York, Dr. Podesta has practiced non-surgical orthopedics and sports medicine since 1990. Dr. Podesta completed his medical training at the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara and New York Medical College and residency in Physical Medicine and REhabilitation at St. Vincent's Medical Center in New York city. In addition to working with members of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Rams, Lakers and Kings, Dr. Podesta has served as a consultant with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Major League Baseball Umpires and as Team Physician for the World Champion Los Angeles Extreme professional football team of the XFL.
