| Oxnard College Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society chapter invites students, faculty, and administration to its chapter’s first sponsored event to be held at the new OC Performing Arts facility on Thursday, April 21, 4-5:30 p.m. Enjoy a screening of Somewhere with a Mountain, a one-hour documentary that focuses on a particular group of Pacific Islanders, the Lapita Navigators, and how they cope with climate change as they face losing their islands, the Atolls, to constant flooding. Filmmaker, sailor, and activist, Steve Goodall, discovers the islands and natives during his travels and finds they are unaware of global warming, the cause of the sea level rising and flooding. The natives seek help from Goodall, who documents the natives’ progress adjusting to the climate change. The film is narrated by Chevy Chase. A Question and Answer segment with Steve Goodall will follow the screening. The event is FREE but limited to students, faculty, and administration. The documentary's official website is http://www.someplacewithamountain.org/Apuur._org/HOME.html.
