Poetry continues as the theme for April as Ventura College Professor Kelly Peinado reads her own poetry and that of poets Naomi Shihab Nye and Barry Spacks at the April 3 "Tea and Oleander" reading.
The college hosts another poetry lecture on April 24 with "Mango, Eggplant and More Poetry" featuring Moorpark College Professor Gwendolyn Alley reading her new work, as well as a work she performed at the Taos Poetry Circus published in ArtLife Limited Editions Magazine.
The April 17 OC Scholars Lecture offers a more political theme with "Cuba Today and Before the Transition" featuring Ventura College professors Yvonne Bodle and Bill Hendricks reporting on the Ventura College Educational and Cultural Exchange Program's findings after visiting schools, hospitals, orphanages, ballet academies, universities and the U.S. interests in Havana.
All lectures in the series are free and open to the public. If you are visiting Oxnard College for the first time please purchase a $1 parking ticket at the kiosk off Simpson Drive.
