OXNARD COLLEGE MARQUEE FLASHES NEWS TO THE COMMUNITY
The image of a California condor preparing to alight the top of the Oxnard College marquee arrived just in time for the first day of classes for the 2002 Fall Semester.
The condor logo was hoisted by a crane into position August 19 and now frames the marquee located on the North Campus Road entrance to the campus , directly facing busy Rose Avenue. The frame also includes the key sponsors of the marquee — the Oxnard College Foundation and the California Strawberry Festival.
The marquee has been operational since May 15 — graduation day — when it first flashed congratulations to OC graduates. The marquee is used to advertise college classes, programs and special events — in English and Spanish — and weekend events at the college such as a recent Tae Kwon Do competition and regional dog show that drew hundreds of participants.
During the fall semester there will be a special dedication to those members of the OC staff—including members of the Maintenance & Operations and Information Technology departments — who helped to design and construct the marquee and install the technology to operate it. |
