| Dr. Jaime Casillas, Dean of Economic Development and Innovation at Oxnard College, has been appointed Interim Vice President of Instruction for the 2008-2009 academic year. Also, Mr. Floyd Martin has accepted the permanent position of Oxnard College Dean of Math, Science, Health, Physical Education, and Fine and Performing Arts.
Dr. Casillas will assume his new duties pending approval by the Board of Trustees of the Ventura County Community College District at the July 8, 2008, board meeting.
Dr. Casillas came to Oxnard College in 1999 from Ventura College to administer the economic and workforce development division and its state initiatives, which include the Workplace Learning Resource Center and the Center for International Trade Development, and the innovative college programs OCTV and the Fire Technology program at Camarillo Airport. Dr. Casillas earned his bachelors degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara and his masters degree from California Lutheran University. He earned his Ed.D from Nova Southeastern University.
Floyd Martin is a founding faculty member in the mathematics department at Moorpark College when it opened in 1967. He has served as interim dean of the division for the 2007-2008 academic year and will assume the permanent post pending approval by the Board of Trustees of the Ventura County Community College District at their July 8 meeting.
His bachelors of science and masters of science degrees are from Arizona State University. He taught mathematics full-time at Moorpark College until becoming a dean. He retired from Moorpark College in June 2003 and became a music student at Moorpark College and earned an associate of arts degree there. He pursued his interest in choral music for several years before making the decision to come out of retirement. |
