Leo Orange, coordinator of the Oxnard College Educational Assistance Center, spent his summer finishing two contributing chapters to the textbooks “Building Stronger School Counseling Programs” and “Rehabilitation Services: An Introduction for the Human Services Professional” with co-author Martin C. Brodwin of California State University, Los Angeles. The chapter “Support Programs for Students with Disabilities in the Public Schools” appears in the “Building Stronger School Counseling Programs” published by the American School Counselor Association and “Attitudes Toward Disabilities” appears in the “Rehabilitation Services” book.
Both books are geared towards general programs for educators who work with students with disabilities, said Orange. In addition to those texts, he has also collaborated with Dr. Leo E. Orr, II, on a chapter on cancer and a chapter on sexuality and disability in the textbook “Medical, Psychological and Vocational Aspects of Disability.”
In the “Rehabilitation Services” book Orange wrote: “By providing rehabilitation services, persons with disabilities are able to participate more fully in society — pursuing an appropriate education, career, and taking an active part in social and recreational activities.” |
