| Oxnard College television production students George Ortega Ed Rosales won First Place in the “Yo Votaré ‘08” get-out-the-vote contest sponsored by the National Council of La Raza.
The two submitted a two-minute video entitled “Election Day—November 4, 2008,” which featured breezy images of Oxnard, including the city’s patriotic banners urging “Your Vote is Your Voice.” The video shows three youngsters waving flags and handing out “Don’t forget to vote” flyers.
The two received a $1,000.00 prize for their efforts. According to television arts instructor Andres Orozco, both Ortega and Rosales took his TV 103 class last fall and are now enrolled in TV 105 for the spring. “I am happy to say that two other OC TV students — Raymond Lucero and Roberto Perez — made it into the top 5, but George and Ed won top prize,” said Orozco.
