| Volunteers are needed for the Interactive Science and Math Career Expo to be held in conjunction with the Ventura County Superintendent of Schools’ annual Science Fair on Wednesday, March 19 at the Ventura County Fairgrounds.
The expo, to be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the agricultural building at the fairgrounds, is jointly sponsored by Oxnard College, the American Petroleum Institute and the Oxnard College Foundation. More than 50 science and technology-related private and government organizations offer information booths on career opportunities for the aspiring scientists.
OC chemistry lab technician Jan Straka will coordinate the expo, which attracts several thousand public and private school students as they display their science projects in competition at the annual science fair. The expo is always considered an outstanding opportunity for outreach and identifying future OC students.
Students or college staff who would like to volunteer to staff information booths at the Ventura County Fairgrounds on the day of expo need to contact Ms.Straka at 986-5849. Volunteers need to meet prior to the expo for an orientation about volunteer duties and responsibilities. |
