OXNARD COLLEGE SCIENCE FAIR CAREER EXPO HELD APRIL 23RD
OC science instructor Dr. Michael Abram and more than a hundred OC staff, students and volunteers presented another successful "Oxnard College Interactive Science & Math Career Expo” on Wednesday, April 23, 2008, in conjunction with the annual Ventura County Science Fair held at the Ventura County Fairgrounds. Major sponsors Oxnard College and the Coastal Chapter of The American Petroleum Institute (API) invited hundreds of Ventura County elementary and middle school science students to follow a "Treasure Hunt" of 80 exhibitor booths held in Santa Cruz Hall that offered information relating to career options and educational opportunities throughout a range of sciences. There was a wide variety of interactive displays and science professionals offering guidance in the fields of science, hybrid energy, math, health, conservation, agriculture, technology and engineering from companies and organizations such as API, Aero Energy, Amgen, Baxter, Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary, Edison, Imation, Ojai Raptor Center, Pratt Whitney-Rocketdyne, Seminis, St. John’s Regional Medical Center, Verizon, Divecon, the U.S. Navy, Army, Coast Guard, Ventura County Fire Dept. Hazmat Training, the Ventura County Sheriffs Dept., Kalani Family Chiropractic and the Oxnard College Math, Science and Technology Depts. This year’s expo also featured outdoor parking lot demonstrations from the Ventura County SWAT Team, OST, Nabors Well Service and Lifeline Ambulance Transport. |
