Congratulations to the Oxnard College division of Economic Development and Community Initiatives, especially staff members Lucia Haro, Al Escobar, Dora Hartman and Connie Nikirk, for their success in receiving renewed grants this year totaling $340,000.
Dean Jaime Casillas said that the funds were awarded by the State Chancellor's Office to support the Center for International Trade Development and Workplace Learning Center at Oxnard College.
In addition, Al Escobar, the new Project Developer for the Oxnard College Center for International Trade Development, has been recognized in this month's issue of the Pacific Coast Business Times for his achievements in private industry and for his expertise in international trade development.
There is also good news for the Oxnard College Child Development Center, according to center director Kim Karkos. A full announcement will be made in a few weeks but appears that the Center’s “Destined to Succeed” program will receive support through a grant awarded by the Orfalea Family Foundation (that’s Paul Orfalea, founder and former CEO of Kinko’s) based in Santa Barbara, California. The grant for $123,960 over a three-year period, was the result of hard work by Kim, Lillian Manning, Nancy Gregg, and the staff of the OC Child Development Center. |
