Oxnard College Art Department and Aurora Vista del Mar Hospital are sponsoring the Soldier's Project Art Exhibition and Benefit. The Soldier's Project is a non-profit group established to provide free confidential psychological services to military personnel and their families who serve or have served in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. The mission of the Soldier's Project is to bring together volunteer licensed mental health professionals to provide free and confidential counseling, educate communities regarding the psychological effects of war, and provide indepth training on combat trauma. The Soldier's Project was founded in 2004 by Judith Broder, MD. If you are in the military or a veteran of the military and would like to participate in the Soldier's Project Art Exhibition and Benefit, please submit artwork using the following requirements: 2-D artwork (preferably framed with hanging hardware attached, not to exceed 48 inches in all directions); 3-D artwork (work not to exceed 48 inches); multi-media (film); mixed media and photography (see 2-D requirements above).
IMPORTANT DATES: Drop off your artwork on August 27, 2011, between 9 a.m. and Noon at the McNish Gallery on the campus of Oxnard College at 4000 South Rose Avenue, Oxnard, CA, Tel. No. 805-986-5800. Pick up unselected work on August 27, 2011, at 2 p.m. Exhibition Dates: September 1-29, 2011. There will be a reception for the artists on September 8, 2011, from 4-6 p.m. The benefit event will take place on Saturday, September 17, 2011, at 2 p.m.
